Earn while you learn to become a Riverside C.N.A. – applications due 11/23/2022 for January semester at KCC

The Riverside Growing Your Future Certified Nursing Assistant (C.N.A.) Apprenticeship Program is currently accepting applications (application form below).

Applications for winter 2023 semester are due to Riverside’s OD and Learning Department (email completed forms to: rhcscholarships@rhc.net ) no later than November 23, 2022.

What is the Riverside C.N.A. Apprenticeship?

Riverside is committed to helping our employees throughout their career journey and has helped Riverside employees complete their C.N.A. while maintaining their Riverside job.  You can EARN while you learn.

The Certified Nursing Assistant Apprenticeship this fall is a 16 week, competency-based program in which students attend classes at Kankakee Community College and complete hands-on clinical experiences 2, 8 hour days per week for Monday and Wednesday (16 hours per week classroom/clinical time). Your registration fees, course fees, and books or related materials to attend the Kankakee Community College (KCC) C.N.A. program, if accepted into the program, are all paid and you are also paid for your 16 hours per week to attend the program by Riverside for your current position. You may continue to work in your current Riverside position while attending the program.

What happens when I finish the program?

Upon successful completion of the program’s coursework and meeting State of Illinois requirements including passing the NATCEP exam, participants become a registered State of Illinois C.N.A.

If offered a C.N.A. job at Riverside Healthcare, participants are expected to accept the position at Riverside for a minimum of 18 months or pay back the educational funding received towards his/her C.N.A. to Riverside.

    Who is Eligible?

Interested Riverside employees must meet all KCC admission requirements for the C.N.A. program to be eligible to participate in the apprenticeship program and must be in good standing as a Riverside employee (good standing means the employee may not have a written warning or greater in the past 12 months). Also, he/she must have worked at Riverside a minimum of 6 months before the program starts on 1/9/2023.

    When does the program start?

Orientation for the winter semester is 12/5/22 and classes/clinicals are from 1/9/2023 to 5/12/2023.

    What do CNAs do?

Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) are very important members of our Riverside healthcare team. Becoming a C.N.A. is often the first step in someone becoming a nurse.  C.N.A.s are responsible for helping the entire clinical team and patients too. The compassion and skill of a C.N.A. in giving patient care helps reduce stress for those who are sick and unable to care for themselves. We employ C.N.A.s in the hospital and in our senior life areas. Being a C.N.A. is hard work—and very rewarding.  It is a wonderful opportunity to make a meaningful difference in a patient’s life.

Where do I send my application when complete?

Please complete this application and note what semester you are interested in attending classes. Return applications to Riverside’s ODL Department (email rhcscholarships@rhc.net).

Please contact the OD and Learning Department at 815-935-3276 or extension 22701 for more information—You will be notified if you are selected for the program along with your leader no later than 11/29/2022.

Riverside’s Employee Engagement Survey 2022 opens 11/1 with an email containing a survey link to YOUR Outlook inbox!

For anyone hired to Riverside on/before 9/19/2022, we need your help.

Our 2022 Riverside Employee and Provider Engagement Survey opens 11/1 and we want to hear from YOU!

The Riverside Engagement Survey is open 11/1 – 11/23 (closes 11/23 at 11:59PM)!

Each one of you are important Riverside family members and we want to hear from you. To help us make sure Riverside is a good place to work, please complete our survey.  Below are frequently asked questions about our survey, why filling out the survey is important, and how your voice matters.

    Frequently Asked Questions

How will I be able to complete the survey?

There are no paper surveys. On 11/1, starting at 5am, emails will start to go out to your Riverside Outlook email. The email sender name is: Press Ganey on behalf of Riverside Healthcare (noreply@surveys.pressganey.com). The email subject line is: Riverside Healthcare Employee Engagement Survey 2022.

There is a link in the email—how do we know it’s not a phishing scam?:

The email will contain a unique to you link to the survey and is NOT a phishing scam or a test from our IT Security team. Do not forward the email; again, the link is unique to you to make sure we only complete one survey per employee.  You will also NOT be asked to give any password or login information when clicking on the email link to the survey. After you click on the survey link, if you are asked for credentials (like a password), please do NOT share any information; instead, notify Information Security immediately.

What if I delete the survey email? If you do not complete the survey or delete the first email, you will get email reminders two times per week until you either complete the survey or until the survey closes (same email sender name and subject line as above).

I click on the link and the survey isn’t opening. What do I do?

Make sure you are using Microsoft Edge, Microsoft Edge Chromium, or Google Chrome as your web browser. If you would like more help, any employee may contact Press Ganey by emailing their Client Support Desk at hdesk@pressganey.com. A Press Ganey employee will respond to your email within 24 to 48 hours. Press Ganey Client Support Desk hours are Monday – Friday 7am – 7 pm.

How long does the survey take, and what kinds of questions will be asked?

This survey takes, at most, 15 minutes to complete.  The survey questions cover: Culture of Safety, RMG Provider, diversity and inclusion, resiliency, and happiness with leaders, the organization, coworkers and the job itself.   There also are questions required to maintain our Magnet designation (only for RNs and APRNs).   Survey questions are assigned based upon your job role/department according to Human Resources as of 9/19/2022.

    Will my feedback change anything?

We have also made organizational changes based upon feedback from our last survey such as: increased Riverside employee updates from our President and CEO, Phil Kambic, to keep you well-informed on questions you are asking, career development opportunities, years of service reinstatement, Attitude of Gratitude appreciation, and more.

When are results available? Survey results will be available to leaders by mid-January 2023.

Are there incentives for filling out a survey?

Departments achieving 85% or more of employees filling out a survey will earn a pizza party for their department due to exceeding our health system goal of 75%.

    Is this survey confidential?

Yes.  Leaders get a report for their department on how many staff filled out the survey—but will NOT know WHO filled out the survey. Riverside leaders will keep asking you to fill out the survey even if you have already done so as they watch the report on how many staff have completed the survey. Riverside leaders have no way to know who completes the survey other than a count of completed surveys. Your responses are completely confidential. Please refer to Press Ganey’s Confidentiality Statement below regarding how they protect your voice.

Who do I contact if I have more questions about this survey and how my results will be shared? Contact Riverside’s ODL Department at 815-935-3276 or extension 22702 or email questions to olieeducation@rhc.net.

    Riverside Revenue Cycle Rock Stars

What is new and exciting in the education world of Revenue Cycle?   FinThrive!!

FinThrive offers a comprehensive suite of courses, assessments, labs/simulators, badges, certifications, and CE for licensed/registered revenue cycle staff. Not only does FinThrive help us grow and earn new credentials; FinThrive also helps improve Riverside revenue cycle outcomes (e.g. reducing denials).

Riverside Revenue Cycle Directors, Karen Block, Melissa Halcomb, Amber Krumwiede, and Rich Schiltz partnered with ODL Revenue Cycle Trainers to implement FinThrive with their teams starting August 1st, 2022.  Each employee in those departments was asked to complete two badges to help them grow—and/or get credit for what they already know.

What are badges? Badges are credentials you attain upon successfully passing a FinThrive exam. Badge exams allow staff to test out of material (no studying ahead of time). By testing first, you only complete classes on topics you don’t know and we find, when you complete the course and learn the content—most staff pass the test and earn their badge on the second test attempt.

Each badge exam requires a passing score of 80% or greater and employees receive a badge certificate to display their professional accomplishments.

Congratulations to these Riverside Revenue Cycle Rock Stars!

On behalf of the Operational Directors and the Revenue Cycle Trainers, we are excited to announce and congratulate the following FinThrive Rock Stars that have earned a badge (or badges) as of 9/21/22.
