    Starfish Award Recipient: Evelyn Prude

Congratulations to our 2024 4Q Starfish Award Honoree, Evelyn Prude! Evelyn works in PA Assoc II/Scheduling here at Riverside.

The Starfish Award recognizes team members who fill vital roles outside of nursing. These “difference makers” provide direct and indirect services to Riverside patients and the community.

Her nomination read: “This morning a patient had made calls all over pleading for help. He left messages on my voicemail and also that of the Cancer Treatment Center. It was very early and they were not listened to until after the fact. I’m not sure how Evelyn Prude got the patient on the phone but she found herself connected to him. He was scheduled for a CT Bone Marrow Biopsy today. While speaking with him she recognized he was not doing well. She called 911 and stayed on the phone with him until the ambulance arrived to his house. I’m not sure the outcome except that the patient is currently in the ER.
Evelyn went out of her way to make sure one of our patients was taken care of and safe. I just feel she should be recognized for going above and beyond. I’m thankful for coworkers like Evelyn.”

Earlier in the week, Amy Hornbuckle RN, BSN Clinical Nurse Manager, participated in Day on the Hill (DOTH), advocating for better access to care for the cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation patient populations. Both opportunities were a great way to kick off Pulmonary Rehabilitation Week!

    DAISY Award Winner: Macy Kranz

Congratulations to our 2024 December Daisy Honoree, Macy Kranz, RN/4 Rehab.

Her nomination read: “After a horrible first night on 4th Rehab, Macy was an angel that was so caring and compassionate and took the time to listen to my concerns and make sure things were done correctly. She would make sure my meds were on time so she set a timer on her watch to give me my meds and if she could not get it to me another kind nurse would do it for her. She was a great nurse advocate for me
passed on to other nurses that were taking over how she did things that were working. She recognized my pain as legitimate and did not make me feel like I
was making pain more than what it was. The numerous shifts that she took care of
me, she continued with our plan and I never had to worry that something was not going to be taken care of. She is a true nurse with a heart of gold!”
