    Appropriate Usage for Non-Riverside Devices

A message from Network & Communications:

As part of our ongoing efforts to maintain a secure, efficient, and compliant technology environment, we would like to remind all staff and affiliates of the appropriate network usage policy for non-Riverside Healthcare devices.

    What You Need to Know:

    • All personal and non-Riverside Healthcare devices — including smartphones, tablets, and laptops — must be connected to the Riverside Guest Services wireless network.
    • The Riverside Guest Services network is specifically designed to support general internet access for staff, visitors, and devices not owned or managed by Riverside Healthcare.
    • All other wireless and wired networks within our facilities are designated exclusively for clinical, medical, and patient-serving equipment and systems. These include critical infrastructure such as EMRs, medication systems, monitoring equipment, and communication tools used for patient care.

    Why This Matters:

    • Connecting unauthorized devices to internal networks can pose significant security risks, including potential access to sensitive data, service disruptions, and compliance violations.
    • Maintaining proper network segmentation is essential to HIPAA compliance, cybersecurity, and the reliability of our clinical systems.
    • Use of the guest network for personal or non-approved devices helps ensure that medical and operational systems remain secure and performant.

    Need Help or Have Questions?

Please review the Information Security Policy for more details regarding acceptable use and device connectivity. If you have any questions or require assistance connecting to the Riverside Guest Services network, feel free to reach out to the IT Service Desk.
