    Westwood OB/GYN providers no longer in Riverside insurance plans

    Effective March 1, 2021, Westwood OB/GYN providers will no longer be included in Riverside’s employee health insurance plan.   This means there is no insurance coverage if you continue to see their providers.

    Westwood OB/GYN informed Riverside last month of their decision to no longer practice here, and are now exclusively practicing at Amita St. Mary’s Hospital.  Presence and Amita facilities (including St. Mary’s Hospital) are, and have been excluded providers on Riverside’s benefit plans, which means there is no coverage if you use any of their facilities or services. 

    Riverside encourages its employees to utilize Riverside Medical Center to get the highest coverage through our benefit plans.  

    To receive the enhanced Tier 1 level of benefits, it is recommended Riverside employees transition to a Tier 1 provider, such as Riverside Medical Group Women’s Health Specialists.  These providers are accepting new patients, including those in late-stage pregnancy, to ensure there is no interruption in care.  Appointments can be scheduled by calling (815) 935-4651 or online at riversidehealthcare.org.  Any questions can be directed to Riverside’s benefit support line at extension 37255.

    Dr. Jason Shin is now seeing patients in Bourbonnais

    Riverside Healthcare is pleased to welcome board-certified orthopedic surgeon and sports medicine specialist Dr. Jason Shin.

    Dr. Shin completed his Doctor of Medicine at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, AB, Canada. Dr. Shin continued his education with an Orthopedic Surgery Residency at the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon, SK, Canada. During his residency, he spent time as a Sports Medicine Research Fellow at Midwest Orthopaedic at Rush, Rush University Medical Center in Chicago. Following his residency, Dr. Shin completed a Sports Medicine Fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in the Division of Sports Medicine and Shoulder Surgery in Pittsburgh, PA, where he gained experience treating patients from weekend warriors to professional athletes.

    Along with his education, Dr. Shin is a member of

    • American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons
    • Arthroscopy Association of Canada
    • Canadian Orthopaedic Association

    Have your doctor submit your 90-day prescription to OptumRx.  Or if you had an active prescription with the Riverside Family Pharmacy, those have been transferred to OptumRx.

    You can fill the prescription using any one of the following three methods:

    1. Call the phone number on the back of your UMR ID card. 
    2. Log on to UMR.com and select “Pharmacy”, then “Visit the pharmacy”.  This is a single sign on to the Optum Rx website. Where you can manage your prescriptions, find pharmacies, see lower-cost alternatives, and more.
    3. Download the mobile app.  You can download the OptumRx mobile app by searching for OptumRx in the App Store or Google Play.

    Need to fill a non-maintenance medication? Go to any of the retail pharmacies available in the OptumRx network, such as Walgreens, CVS, etc…  You can find a pharmacy on the website or app.

    Contactless Check-in is Now a Thing

    Did you know that you can check-in and let the front desk staff know you have arrived for your appointment or procedure without stepping foot into the office? With the new Contactless Check-in feature through MyChart, you can avoid waiting in line and additional close contact as you check-in.

    How does it work?
    Make sure you have the new myRiverside app downloaded on your phone, it’s free for Apple and Android devices, click here for download. The myRiverside app if fully integrated with your MyChart account and will be a key part of checking-in.

    eCheck-in for your appointment or procedure ahead of time. The eCheck-in button will show up in your MyChart account anywhere from three to seven days before your appointment or procedure. Answer the questions to avoid standing in line.

    On appointment day, an “I’m Here” button will show up 30 minutes before your scheduled time. Log into your MyChart account from the myRiverside app and click “I’m Here” to let the front desk staff know you have arrived.

    Location Services
    Make your experience even more seamless and turn on location services. As you near your appointment location, your phone will see that you have pulled up and automatically ask if you want to let the office know you have arrived. Click the pop-up notification and click “I’m Here” and proceed to your appointment.

    Appointments & Procedures
    The convenient eCheck-in and “I’m Here” process is available for all Riverside appointments, tests, and procedures. Procedures are detailed in your MyChart account but most common tests include MRI, CT, mammogram, ultrasound, and more. Once your provider orders a test or a procedure you have the ability to schedule within your MyChart account.

    Contactless check-in is not only convenient, but safe for you and the staff. Don’t forget to try it out at your next appointment or procedure.
