Retrain Your Brain: Week Two

Welcome the second week of the Retrain Your Brain Challenge!

Featured Activity: Linking Linguistics
Log in to the REACH portal to see if you can determine the word that links these two together. Don’t forget to check out the other four activities available this week, too!

Your Temporal Lobes

The Linking Linguistics activity engages your temporal lobes that:

  • Help you manage semantic knowledge, or knowledge about objects, facts and word meanings
  • Develop language recognition skills since adolescence

Stress Tip: Communicate mindfully.
Take an extra moment to consider what it is you truly want to communicate and how you want to convey that message. When you’re talking with someone, listen to learn and understand what they are saying – try not to think about what you want to say when they have finished speaking.

Log in at www.RiversideHealthcare.org/REACH. Select the different sections of the brain to complete the daily activities. Earn one point per activity, for a maximum of five points each day.

Collect 70 points to complete the challenge before Oct. 31.

Retrain Your Brain Challenge: Week One

Welcome to week one of the Retrain Your Brain Challenge!

Featured Activity: Mental Rotation
Visit the REACH portal to see if you can mentally rotate the complex images presented to you in this week’s featured activity. Be sure to log in daily to test your mental rotation ability and to complete additional brain game challenges.

Your Parietal Lobes

The Mental Rotation activity engages your parietal lobes that:

  • Give us the ability to solve mathematical problems
  • Help us judge size, distance and shapes

Stress Tip: View a challenge from a different perspective.
The Mental Rotation activity employs the idea of changing our perspective, which is a technique that can also be used to navigate stressful situations better. Viewing a challenge from a different perspective doesn’t mean it has to be completely positive.

We can build our emotional resiliency by being supportive and caring toward ourselves. When we fail or struggle and we show ourselves a little support and understanding, this offers more emotional stability compared to solely looking at the positive side of a situation.

Wondr Health Blurb – Asset Health | Riverside Healthcare

Wondr is a year-long, skills-based digital weight loss program that helps participants feel their best mentally and physically through simple, clinically-proven techniques and tools. Participants will learn how to enjoy their favorite foods and still lose weight, sleep better, stress less, and more.

Here’s how Wondr works:

Once you start, you will get access to a new series of videos each week that teach you how to apply Wondr principles. These principles are the keys that will help you learn when and how to eat so that you can still eat your favorite foods and lose weight at the same time. The entire dashboard is available to you 24 hours a day so you can watch whenever it is convenient for you. In addition to the videos, the dashboard includes tools to track your weight loss progress, monitor your activity, and find inspiration. Plus, in the program, you will have access to WondrLink™, the online community where participants can share ideas, successes, and challenges as well as reach Wondr health coaches.

Wondr is very different from other programs in that you don’t have to count calories, eat from specific meal plans, or purchase diet foods. We’ll teach you the skills and techniques to help you eat your favorite foods and still lose weight.
