Congratulations to Evelyn Prude, the 2024 4Q Starfish Award!

Congratulations to our 2024 4Q Starfish Award Honoree, Evelyn Prude! Evelyn works in PA Assoc II/Scheduling here at Riverside.

The Starfish Award recognizes team members who fill vital roles outside of nursing. These “difference makers” provide direct and indirect services to Riverside patients and the community.

Her nomination read: “This morning a patient had made calls all over pleading for help. He left messages on my voicemail and also that of the Cancer Treatment Center. It was very early and they were not listened to until after the fact. I’m not sure how Evelyn Prude got the patient on the phone but she found herself connected to him. He was scheduled for a CT Bone Marrow Biopsy today. While speaking with him she recognized he was not doing well. She called 911 and stayed on the phone with him until the ambulance arrived to his house. I’m not sure the outcome except that the patient is currently in the ER.
Evelyn went out of her way to make sure one of our patients was taken care of and safe. I just feel she should be recognized for going above and beyond. I’m thankful for coworkers like Evelyn.”

Her nomination read: “Windy was on her way back from her break one evening around 7:30pm and there was a visitor standing near the coffee shop which was closed. Windy checked with the visitor to see if everything was okay. The visitor’s husband was an inpatient upstairs and she came down to try and get a coffee and some food. Windy explained that everything was closed but told the visitor she could take her to the cafeteria (which at that time is closed to visitors) and buy her a sandwich. The visitor was very grateful. In the cafeteria the visitor select a sandwich, sushi, salad and several other things. Windy, who was not expecting the visitor to want all of these items, took it all in stride and let her continue to pick things. When done Windy went over an rang all the items up which totaled $32! Windy graciously paid for the visitors food. Windy went above an beyond for this family and expected nothing in return. Later in the evening a phlebotomist went into the patients room and they were raving about Windy. A small act of kindness made a big difference to this family during a stressful hospital stay.”
