Graduate Medical Education celebrates 11 resident and fellow graduates!

On Friday, June 14th, family, friends and Riverside administration and staff celebrated 8 resident graduates and 3 fellow graduates who will complete their training on June 30, 2024.  We want to congratulate the following:

Internal Medicine Resident graduates: Seerat Hassan, DO; Meenhaj Kabir, DO; Suleyman Khaleel, DO; Rahul Patel, DO; Irfan Vora, DO

Psychiatry Resident graduates: Shahzaib Khan, DO; Kelsie Winger, DO; Jordan Allen, DO

During the graduation ceremony, we also recognized 2 of our Program Directors, for their dedication and time devoted to GME.

Dr. Naresh Chandan has served as the Program Director of Internal Medicine since the beginning of GME’s journey, over 16 years ago.  In addition to serving as Program Director, he has been an educator, mentor and father figure to his residents.  He is transitioning from Program Director to Associate Program Director of the Resident Clinic effective July 1, 2024.   He will continue to be active in the education of the Internal Medicine residents.

Dr. Mary Belford has served as Program Director of Psychiatry since the program’s initial journey in 2016.   She is admired as a natural leader and has often stepped in to assist with GME leadership responsibilities including those outside her own program in support of all trainees.  After 30 years of practicing in the community and serving in medical staff leadership positions, she is leaving Riverside to join a Psychiatry practice closer to her home.

    New Leadership:

Dr. Keyur Shah has assumed the role of Program Director of Internal Medicine effective July 1, 2024.  He has been teaching in residency programs for over 20 years member and he is the co-founder of the AIM Hospitalists group that provides the teaching and supervision of inpatient medicine months.  He has served on GMEC, is well respected by the residents and enjoys providing numerous teaching opportunities to residents and students.

Dr. Raunak Khisty has taken over the position of Program Director effective July 1, 2024, transitioning from Associate Program Director. He has been active in all aspects of the program’s leadership and will continue to grow and develop the program.  He has welcomed hundreds of medical students on inpatient rotations with him and other Psychiatry faculty members and the rotations have received glowing remarks.

Riverside’s GME program is excited to move forward in such good hands.  Residents and students will continue to grow medically and professionally in these programs as part of their life-long educational journey.

How to change benefits due to a Life Event

How do I make changes to my benefits due to a Life Event (birth, marriage, loss or gain of coverage elsewhere, etc.)?

You have 30 days from a Qualifying Event to make changes to your benefits.

    • Go to InforESS and hover over the “Benefit Information” icon and click on “Benefit Information”.  There you will find details about our benefits, such as the benefit presentation, benefit guide, highlight sheets, rates, plan summaries and more to help you decide what plans to choose.
    • Once you’ve reviewed all the information and are ready to enroll, go back to the InforESS Home page, click the plus sign (+) next to Benefits in the left hand menu bar and select “Life Events” then “Add Life Event” and choose the appropriate life event.
    • Be sure to enter the appropriate Event Date.  For example, Loss of Coverage or Spousal change of Employment, will be the actual date of the loss or gain of coverage as stated on documentation.
    • Click the check box and then View Life Event to start your enrollment.
    • You will need to provide documentation of the event.  For Loss of coverage, your COBRA notice will have the date your previous benefits ended.  Or for gain of coverage, a confirmation statement will do.  You can attach those documents by scanning or taking a picture of them and saving them as a file.  Then attach it by clicking on the file icon.
    • If you are adding dependents to your plan, you will need to supply Dependent Verification Documentation such as birth certificates for children, marriage certificate for spouse, or tax forms.
    • Make sure to Review and Submit.  Once submitted, check your confirmation statement to assure that the enrollment is correct.  If not, you can make changes and re-submit.
