2024 Employee Engagement Survey results
In September 2024, 79% of employees hired on/before 7/3/24 completed our engagement survey. We are grateful to the employees who shared their feedback.
This year, we saw significant improvement across the board! The organization’s overall Engagement score had statistically significant improvement over last year, improving to an overall 3.92 vs 2023’s result of 3.83 (on a scale of 1 to 5). Engagement measures employees’ sense of belonging, likeliness to stay with the organization, and overall satisfaction. Nationally, employee engagement is trending up for the first time since 2018; however, our results are accelerating at an abnormal rate – something we should all be proud of! Additionally, our data shows that employees have strong relationships with their leaders – and this is crucial because we know relationships matter.
Our Top Performing Items are things that are going relatively well. We want to promote, celebrate, and maintain these moving forward. The top performing items organizationally were:
• There is a climate of trust within my work unit
• Riverside Healthcare provides career development opportunities
• I rarely lose sleep over work issues
• My work unit works well together
• I am able to free my mind from work when I am away from it
Key drivers are items that matter most to our employees and are statistically correlated to overall
engagement. Our key drivers that employees identified relate to employee safety, Riverside’s
commitment to workforce diversity – creating an inclusive environment, and balancing work and
personal life.
Additionally, our survey measured:
• Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion: Employees shared that they feel their coworkers value
individuals from different backgrounds and that they can be their authentic selves at work.
Employees want continued organizational commitment to workforce diversity and an
inclusive culture.
• Resilience: Resilience is defined as the ability to bounce back, activating strategies that
support ongoing burnout prevention and the ability to disconnect from work stress and feel
supported in working towards work-life balance. We are out-performing nationally in terms
of decompression – the ability to disconnect from work. Our staff find meaning and purpose
in their work. Employees want to be supported in balancing their work and personal life.
• Safety Culture: Safety culture is about creating a safe environment for team members and
patients. Our employees shared that they care about their safety. Over the last year, we
have seen solid improvement in our Safety Culture!
All employees can expect their leader to share their department’s survey results by 12/31/24. Leaders
will be partnering with staff to identify opportunities and brainstorm solutions. All departments will
create an action plan to make improvements in response to your survey feedback by 2/1/25. Your leader
will monitor your department’s action plan progress throughout the year and keep you informed of your
team’s progress monthly.
Thank you again to everyone that participated in the survey. Your feedback and partnership help us
continually improve and ensure Riverside is a remarkable place to work!
