The Lab Wins AI Technology Challenge
During a recent Leadership Council meeting, Phil Kambic, Riverside president & CEO, recognized several of the Riverside directors who had been tasked with finding ways AI could be incorporated into their departments. The directors were:
- Lacey Binnendyk – Heart & Vascular
- Kate Eschbach – Radiology
- Melissa Halcomb – Patient Access
- Melissa Burke – Lab
Kyle Hansen, the director over information technology services, oversaw the challenge, which included finding AI resources that would benefit their department and ultimately, patient care.
Melissa Burke’s submission, the Cellavision program is designed to assist in the lab in the analysis and classification of blood cells and other hematological specimens, was the winner. This technology was added to the 2024 budget and will be added to the lab.
